Odd Jobs, Long Nights, and Cold Mornings is a game about adjacent acquaintances, professional respect, and catching feelings, for two [or three] players.

It was written by cobalt tower [& daniel] for the once upon a blue monday + record collection 2k21 game jams.  The scene prompts feature lyrics from:

+ Alarm Call, by The Correspondents
 + Arrow, by Polite Fiction
+ Autoclave, by the Mountain Goats

One of you is the Established and one of you is the Incoming.  You have known each other for a while, sharing different spaces in a broader social circle. Now, you are allies together, serving a cause that brings you up close and personal. How does your relationship change over time? One of you is the Outsider. You’re new here—or at least, you are now. You have a way in: legacy, or finally coming home? You’ve entered the Circle, joined the Cause—for a reason.  Why are you here?

You will need:
 - two or three players interested in discussing feelings, navigating complex relationships, and exploring a dark tone
 - somewhere to keep track of your characters, the prompts you choose, and the scenes that follow
 - a few hours [don't be afraid to press pause between scenes and come back later for another session—with or without a  parallel time jump in your story]

Game files include an updated version of the original 2-player OJLNCM, and the new, 3-player variant. Each version comes with:
- an 8.5"x11" pdf
- a mobile-friendly pdf [3"x5.33"]
- a .txt version, formatted for screen readers and visual clarity
- a .txt document with safety resources

I would recommend this game wholeheartedly, though I cannot claim to be entirely neutral about it. It's designed to work either for new or pre-existing characters, and I've played in both situations. Character creation is short, open, and easy, and naturally sets up multiple ways your characters can relate to each other. The prompts are evocative, thematically consistent, and build a deeply moving narrative.
The author and this game and I have a playthrough of this game available for any curious. It was streamed live as part of the Roll plus Bond 2nd Anniversary charity stream, and is available here:
